February 16, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) — Local residential construction started off the New Year with a 9 percent jump in new-home permits in January, according to statistics compiled by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City (HBA). The organization tracked a seasonally adjusted total of 220 single-family homes permitted last month, up from a revised 198 units for December.

House Passes Bill to Assist Military Homebuyers with Moore’s Support

WASHINGTON, DC - October 12, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District – Kansas) announced today the passage of H.R. 3590, The Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009, which amends the federal tax code to ensure military personnel can take full advantage of the first-time homebuyer tax credit that was created as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The measure passed the House by a unanimous vote of 416-0. Moore is a co-sponsor of the legislation.

WASHINGTON, DC - September 29, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced a $288,000 grant to the city of Liberal for housing. The funds will be used to provide grants to public or private non-profit organizations and Indian Tribes to provide assistance in recruitment, screening, loan packaging and related activities for prospective Self-Help housing applicants. This project will provide for the coordination and supervision of the construction of 18 homes. This program brings new, modest homes to the community and allows families who otherwise might not be able to afford a home to do so through the contribution of sweat equity.
