Washington, DC – August 17, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Representatives Jim Himes (CT-04) and Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-03) announced today that The Workplace, Inc., Southwestern Connecticut’s Regional Workforce Development Board, will be receiving a one year grant of $299,670 to provide local, homeless veterans with job training aimed at helping them succeed in civilian careers. The grant has the potential for up to three additional years based on funding availability.

West Hartford, CT – June 16, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Building cleaners who have been picketing against a Goodrich Corp. cleaning contractor stepped up their protest Wednesday with a rally that drew more than 100 workers and area residents. The protest was aimed at cleaning contractor Jani-King of Hartford, which took over cleaning at the plant in May and refused to hire any the previous contractor’s eight custodians, many of whom had worked at the facility for years.
