AUGUSTA, ME - June 23, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — As of July 1, 2009 all new and replacement home heating oil tanks within the wellhead protection zone of community drinking water wells must be double-walled or have additional spill containment. The wellhead protection zone is the area around a well where it is most susceptible to contamination.“Protecting this area helps to keep Maine’s drinking water safe,” says Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) engineer David McCaskill. “The DEP responds, on average, to more than one spill a day from residential home heating oil tanks, and corrosion is the single largest cause.”

New Jersey Offers Loans/Grants For Clean Energy Capital Investment

TRENTON, N.J. - June 16, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — A new funding resource in support of Gov. Jon S. Corzine’s commitment to promote economic development and a more secure environmentally responsible energy future for New Jersey was unveiled today. Known as the Clean Energy Solutions Capital Investment (CESCI) Loan/Grant, the new program was developed to encourage and promote energy efficiency measures within the commercial and industrial sectors and encourage the use of renewable energy while supporting the goals of the Governor Corzine’s Energy Master Plan.

County Partners with Local Business to Turn Blue into Green by Recycling Denim Clothing; Residents can recycle at Earth Day Event at Kensington Drop-off Site

April 21, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — The County’s Division of Solid Waste Services (DSWS) of the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is encouraging County residents to turn blue into green by recycling their unwanted jeans and denim clothing between now and June 15. The recycled jeans and denim will be turned into UltraTouchTM fiber insulation for homes and buildings. UltraTouchTM — a sustainable building material — is made almost entirely from recycled cotton fibers and recycled denim jeans.
