Schumer and Congressman Maurice Hinchey announced their new efforts to ensure that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) does not force Southern Tier homeowners to spend thousands of dollars on unnecessary flood insurance through flawed and inaccurate maps that fail to reflect communities’ efforts and infrastructure to mitigate potential flooding.
