Garamendi Congratulates UC Davis on New National Transportation Center

WALNUT GROVE, CA – September 25, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA), a Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today congratulated UC Davis’s Institute of Transportation Studies on being selected in a national competition to lead a new two-year, $11.2 million research consortium for the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). The newly created National Center for Sustainable Transportation (NCST) will receive funding through a $5.6 million grant from the U.S. DOT and $5.6 million in matching funds from state, regional, and local agencies. The NCST will use the money to assert national leadership in reducing carbon emissions from transportation systems while supporting climate adaptation activities and continued mitigation of air pollution and other environmental impacts.
