California State Parks Warns of Drowning Risks Before Fourth of July Holiday Weekend
With the long holiday weekend upon us, California State Parks is alerting water enthusiasts to take life-saving precautions for themselves and their loved ones. Drowning is the fifth leading cause of accidental death in the United States. About 10 people die from unintentional drowning every day, but it can easily be prevented by educating children and adults about water safety and lifesaving techniques.

Baker-Polito Administration Awards $42 Million to Preserve Over 550 Affordable Housing Units
The Baker-Polito Administration announced awards to preserve three affordable housing developments in Worcester and Franklin. The $42 million in tax credit equity and subsidy from the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will fund the purchase and rehabilitation of the three developments and will maintain affordability of nearly all 559 housing units. These awards are part of the administration’s strategy to ensure the continuation of existing affordable housing across the Commonwealth

The sprawling 44 acre North Boulevard Homes community built in December 1940, was the Tampa Housing Authority’s oldest and largest public housing community and an answer to the prayers of many Tampa residents seeking an affordable place to live. Frelinghuysen’s Appropriations Committee Approves FY18 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Legislation
The House Appropriations Committee today unanimously approved the fiscal year 2018 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill. The legislation begins to rebuild the military by providing funding to house, train, and equip military personnel, for housing and services to military families, and to help maintain base infrastructure. The bill also funds veterans’ benefits and health care programs. Notably, the bill provides over $157 million to upgrade facilities at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
