Iowa Home Prices Continue Upward Trend and Sales Up Slightly in First Quarter
Home Sale prices rose 4.2 percent in First Quarter of 2016 and homes sold were up 1.7 percent over this period compared to last year. According to the Housing Trends Report by Iowa Association of REALTORS®, the median sale price for the first quarter of 2016 was $135,500 as compared to $130,017 in the first quarter of 2015.

Virginia residential real estate market continues growth trend Year-over-year growth contributes to Virginia economy
The Virginia residential real estate market continued year-over-year improvement according to the First Quarter 2016 Home Sales Report released by the Virginia Association of REALTORS® (VAR). Indicating sustained long-term growth, both the number of sales and the value of transactions rose from this period last year, totaling 20,771 units and $6.34 billion, respectively. The value of transactions for the first quarter of 2016 was 2.2 percent higher than the first quarter of last year, and nearly 15 percent higher than the first quarter of 2014.

March 2016 Kicks Off Busiest Building Season in Years
Permits for new single family residential building reached the highest one-month total since October 2007 with 537 permits issued during March, according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City’s (HBA) monthly Residential Building Permit Statistics report. The 537 single family permits issued in March brings the year’s first quarter total to 1201 single family units compared to last year’s first quarter number of 893—an increase of 34%. Market Brief, now compiled by First Multiple Listing Service (FMLS), provides the only regionally focused synopsis of monthly sales and home prices for single family residential properties.
Wind industry applauds Maryland’s move toward 25 percent renewable energy by 2020
American wind power hailed the Maryland Legislature’s historic move to obtain 25 percent of its electricity from renewable sources within four years, and is prepared to do its part to meet the standard if it becomes law. Both the state Senate and House have now passed SB 921, the Clean Energy Jobs Act. It now goes to Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan for his signature.

York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) today announced the completion of an extensive upgrade and modernization program for Brighton Towers, a 600-unit, two-building Mitchell-Lama complex in the South Valley neighborhood of Syracuse, that will keep rents affordable to seniors and households of limited means for an additional 40 years. The $45 million acquisition and renovation of the property was largely financed through Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR).

The 49-acre Kaiser Farm is nestled into Stowe’s picturesque Nebraska Valley. Christine Kaiser has farmed there for decades, producing eggs, pork, chicken, and goat milk in the valley’s meadows. Christine has managed her grassland and barnyards with an eye towards water quality because Miller Brook passes through the land. She is now working with Vermont Land Trust (VLT), Stowe Land Trust (SLT), and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to conserve the farm and make sure the stream is permanently protected.
