Cordray Provides Assistance for Community Nonprofits

Missouri agencies seek $16 million in funding for homelessness prevention
November 3, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC), which administers the Missouri Housing Trust Fund (MHTF), has received applications from agencies in the latest funding round in excess of $16 million. The agencies have requested MHTF monies for a variety of housing needs, including assistance to homeless shelters, providing rent subsidies and funds for emergency home repairs, and the construction and rehabilitation of low-income rental housing. $3.7 million in funding is available for allocation.

Walz and Boozman Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Combat Homelessness Amongst Veterans

John Boozman (AR-3) introduced bipartisan legislation to help prevent veterans with VA home loans from becoming homeless due to foreclosure. The legislation mandates that the VA notify its homelessness case managers within seven days of a VA home loan going into default and that the case manager assigned put in place a plan to prevent the veteran from subsequently becoming homeless due to the foreclosure.
