Governor Cuomo Announces Opening of $22 Million Affordable and Supportive Housing Development in Troy
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the opening of Tapestry on the Hudson, a $22.3 million affordable and supportive housing development for families along the Hudson River in Troy. The project included renovating the former Wilbur, Campbell, & Stephens Co. Factory, which was built in 1899, and was most recently home to Mooradians Furniture. Since 2011, New York has invested more than $22 million and leveraged $82.7 million in additional public and private investment to create 434 affordable homes for Troy families

Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-13) recently introduced the Veterans Homelessness Contract Oversight Act, H.R. 1998, to bring Congressional oversight to federal grants that provide essential assistance to homeless veterans. U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $8,250,326 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for services on Long Island that promote the goal of ending homelessness. The funding was allocated through HUD’s Continuum of Care Program, which provides funding to non-profits, as well as local and state governments, to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families and promote access to programs that encourage self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

As part of the Obama Administration’s effort to prevent and end homelessness, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development today awarded a record $1.95 billion in grants to nearly 7,600 homeless assistance programs across throughout the nation, including Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. HUD’s Continuum of Care grants provide critically needed support to local programs on the front lines of serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) today visited Chestnut Health Systems to meet with veterans and highlight new federal funding from the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program to prevent homelessness. Earlier this fall, Durbin announced more than $9.5 million to prevent homelessness among Illinois veterans and their families, which included $510,116 for Chestnut.
