Hill Supports Homebuyers Assistance and Improvement Act
Washington, DC - June 30, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- Congressman Baron Hill supported a straightforward and paid-for bill today that will directly help those Hoosiers who entered into a contract to buy a home to access the first-time homebuyer tax credit by April 30. H.R. 5623, the Homebuyers Assistance and Improvement Act, extends until October 1 the deadline for closing in order to be eligible for the credit. Under current law, these homebuyers were required to close by June 30 to receive the credit.“As of mid-April, about 40,000 Hoosiers had taken advantage of this tax credit,” Hill said. “It’s a targeted and timely credit that has rendered real success. I’ve heard from many constituents who asked me to support this extension in order to ensure they can get the credit.”

Attorney General Greg Zoeller visited South Bend today to warn Hoosiers that foreclosure scams affect all parts of the state, and reminded homeowners to be careful about where to turn for financial advice. Zoeller filed a lawsuit today against USA Mortgage Aid, Inc., a California-based foreclosure consultant company, which scammed a St. Joseph County homeowner out of $1,700.
Application Process for Second Round of TIGER Grant Funding Has Begun
Washington, DC - May 3, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- Congressman Baron Hill is pleased to announce that the application period for the second round of Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grants has begun. The second round of grants, officially called the National Infrastructure Investment Grants, but referred to as the “TIGER II Discretionary Grants,” is a $600 million competitive grant program for surface transportation projects that is similar, but not identical to, the first round of TIGER grants. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) officially began soliciting applications as of Monday, April 26, 2010, with pre-applications due on July 16, 2010, and final applications due on August 23, 2010. Public comments regarding the projects will be considered until May 28, 2010. The DOT will announce the projects that have been selected to receive funding no sooner than September 15, 2010
Suspect Sought in Nappanee Home Invasion

Senate committee approves Mrvan bill to halt late property tax bills
